There are many heavy hearts in Deep Ellum and the Dallas music community, as there has been a great loss with the early death of Frankie Campagna. At the tender young age of 24, Frankie left the life that he knew. This loss is felt by many - Frankie was very special; he was well loved as a person, and was also an incredible musician who already in his short life had quite a reputation.
Born on October 21st, 1986, Frankie Campagna, "Frankie 45" spent the major part of his life in the Deep Ellum area. He graduated from Booker T. Washington High School for The Visual & Performing Arts. When not occupied by his band, Campagna spent time behind the bar at the Amsterdam in Exposition Park, and previously at Club Dada, where at both of these "day jobs" he was well-loved by all. For nearly a decade, Frankie was the frontman for the popular greaser, punk band, Spector 45. This band was voted Best Punk Act in the Dallas Observer Music Awards in both 2009 and 2010. Spector 45 headlined The Bone's New Year's Eve celebration. No one would have dreamed that this would be this talented young man's last performance.
On Wednesday night, January 5th., The Bone will host a benefit in support of Frankie Campagna. |
